How does my child qualify?
To qualify, any or all of your children have to meet the following conditions:
- Traveled 20 miles one way or crossed school district boundaries to go commercial fishing, subsistence fishing, clamming or berry picking.
- Spend 7 nights/8 days away from home doing ‘qualifying’ activities within 12 months (does not have to be consecutive nights).
- There is an economic need for commercial or subsistence activities.
Children ages from birth to 20 (22 if the child is receiving special education services) can qualify for the program. However, once a child has graduated with a diploma, they no longer qualify for services.
